Innopak CXL

Updated: October 28, 2024

Product Description

Booster-Sensitive, Packaged, Cross-Linked Emulsion. series products are suitable for surface applications and their water-resistant characteristics make them suitable for use in small to large-diameter wet holes.

Application

Innopak CXL is a cross-linked, water- resistant, high-energy emulsion.

Innopak CXL AL is a cross-linked, aluminized, high-energy emulsion.

Innopak CXL MS is a cross-linked, water- resistant, high-energy, aluminized emulsion and consists of solid sensitizer for an increased level of resistance to excessive shock from adjacent blast holes.

Innopak is available in a wide range of lengths and diameters.
Product density is ideal for sinking in wet holes.

Guidelines For Use

Innopak CXL is booster sensitive. Minimum primer is a 227 g (1/2 lb) cast booster initiated by a high strength detonator (No. 8 strength or greater base charge).

Innopak CXL cannot be directly initiated with detonating cord or detonators.

Always allow Innopak CXL ample time to warm to borehole temperature.

Consult with a BME Technical Representative for additional priming and initiation guidance.

Priming and Initiation

Minimum priming requirement of a 227 g (1/2 lb) cast booster.

Blasthole Charge Length Hole Diameter Density Relationships

Maximum hole depth depends on product selection, hole diameter, product densities, and the presence of water.

Please contact a BME Technical Representative for additional guidance.

Ground Temperature

This product may be used in ground temperatures from to a maximum of 65°C (150°F) . If the application requires use outside this temperature range please contact a BME Technical Representative for additional guidance.

Reactive Ground

This product is not formulated for use in reactive ground. Reactive ground is typically characterised by the presence of sulphide mineralization.

If the application requires use in known reactive ground, or in untested sulphide bearing ground, please contact a BME Technical Representative for additional guidance.

Handling

All explosives must be stored in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

Allow Innopak to warm to borehole temperature when used in cold weather.

Product Risk Profile
All explosives are classified as dangerous goods and may cause damage to property, personal harm, or death, if not used correctly.

Risk of explosion by shock, friction, fire, or other ignition sources. Classified as hazardous substance, dangerous goods with mass-explosion hazard.

Stable under normal storage conditions.

Temperatures above 65°C (150°F) can be hazardous.

Never load a borehole containing hot or burning material.

Never attempt to fight explosives fires.

Never force explosive materials into a borehole.

Refer to Safety Data Sheet for First-Aid information.

Storage

Innopak products should be kept at temperatures between –15°C (5°F) and 55°C (131°F) prior to initiation.

Shelf Life
12 months from date of manufacturing and when stored at temperature conditions between –20°C (–4°F) and 40°C (104°F).
