Product Description

The BME Portable Training Unit is purpose-built to deliver safe, hands-on training for BME Underground Charging Equipment in a controlled environment. It enables training across multiple disciplines—from engineering teams to face operators and charge crews—on a physical unit that can be deployed anywhere.

Design Features

This unit is fully towable by any vehicle with a trailer hitch and can also be adapted for permanent on-site installation, giving sites full control over their training capabilities.

Beyond training, the PTU serves as a demonstration platform for showcasing BME’s technological advancements to both the public and mining management. Notably, it has been used to develop and demonstrate BME’s movement towards semi-autonomous charging for development and ring blast holes.

Regulatory Compliance

The BME Portable Training Unit complies with all relevant South African trailer registration and roadworthiness standards, including:

  • ADR: 2020
  • SANS 1518:201G
  • National Road Traffic Act (Act G3 of 1GG6) and associated SANS 10047 specifications for trailer roadworthiness and registration.


This ensures the unit meets legal requirements for safe towing and operation on public roads within South Africa.

  • Never fight explosive fires.
  • Refer to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for first aid information.
  • All explosives must be transported and stored in accordance to relevant regulations.
  • All explosives are classified as dangerous goods and may cause damage to property, personal harm, or death, if not used correctly.
  • Always keep products away from sources of heat, sparks, flame or hot surfaces and avoid mixing with combustibles or incompatible materials.
