General Manager: Australia-Asia
Michael Wiseman is an accomplished leader in the mining sector, bringing over 17 years of experience to his role as General Manager Australia-Asia at BME. His diverse expertise spans operational and technical roles, business development, project leadership, and executive management. Mick has worked across the entire customer chain, including mine owner, mining contractor, and drill and blast contractor, enhancing BME’s strengths in explosive manufacturing and technical know-how. With a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mining Engineering from the University of Queensland and as a Past-President of the Australian Chapter of the International Society of Explosives Engineers, Mick is well-equipped to lead his team to success.
Dr. Pathak is an experienced product manager and a true asset to the chemicals industry. Her broad skill set encompasses research and development, new product development, process optimization, process engineering, quality management systems, ISO standards and analytical chemistry.
Dr Pathak has an impressive track-record for creating novel products and guiding them through the entire product life cycle. Her diverse experience makes her well-equipped to recognize customer needs and devise solutions that are inventive but also practical, valuable, and commercially viable. Dr. Pathak is a motivated team player who is confident in her abilities and knows how to get the job done!
Tom Dermody is a highly-qualified Civil Engineer who has been involved in the civil and mining industry for over eighteen years. He has been an educator in the field, providing specialized instruction throughout his career. Tom started his career in geo-mechanics for the civil engineering sector. He then moved to Irish Industrial Explosives as a blasting engineer. Here he picked up a wealth of knowledge regarding different explosive codes and initiation systems.
In 2013, Tom moved to Australia and joined Advanced Initiating Systems (AIS) as their Technical Service Engineer. At AIS, he was responsible for crafting technical designs and overseeing successful site implementations of the AXXIS Digital Initiation System. When BME acquired AIS, Tom was promoted to Technical Services Manager, a position he still holds today. He now leads a crew of AXXIS experts that offer technical support and system assistance with AXXIS gear.
Business Development Manager
Andrew is a Metalliferous Mining Engineer with a South African Mine Managers certificate of competency; a diploma in explosive technology and MBA from Chifley Business School and APESMA.
With over 35 years of experience, he has gained a wealth of knowledge in both the mining and explosives industry. During his career Andrew has had a wide range of roles, starting in the deep level South African gold mines, and then moved to the platinum mines. In 1996 he diversified into the explosive industry, with experience in leading both Sasol’s underground and open business units.
Andrew has a strong passion for continuous improvement and the ability of being able to understand complex issues and delivering safe and sustainable solutions through the application of business improvement concepts, product development opportunities and employee empowerment.
SHERQ Manager
David Jenkins is a dedicated and safety-oriented professional with a strong focus on assessing and enhancing worker conditions. He employs both short- and long-term monitoring strategies to ensure optimal safety standards.
He possesses excellent audit, inspection, and documentation skills, and is known for his flexibility and hard work, always eager to learn and contribute to the success of his team. With an in-depth understanding of regulatory guidelines, record-keeping requirements, and event investigations, David is adept at managing company safety plans, developing training courses, and handling workers’ compensation claims.
David brings a wealth of experience and a proactive approach to his role, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for all.
